DETROIT -- The Minnesota Twins activated right-hander Joe Mays and optioned right-hander Juan Rincon to Triple-A Edmonton after Friday's 5-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Mays will make his first start Saturday against the Tigers since facing Detroit April 14. Mays, 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA this year, made four rehab starts after being sidelined with muscle and tendon inflammation in his right elbow.
Rincon was 0-1 in three starts with a 5.12 ERA.
"We need him to go down and work on his change-up," said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.
