Arguably, the best rotation in baseball doesn't have an "ACE".

Help Oakland A's find their Ace.

I'm doing this for Fulla who couldn't seem to post a poll.

Hmm.....Tough decision but I decide to go with Mulder because he's really good. Second and third close are Zito and Hudson. The rest is distant fourth and fifth.

Ahhh, I'm glad I chose Mulder since he's a very good pitcher even though Zito kicks an ass but I feel Mulder has a bit more experience than Zito has. How is Hudson doing? Is he struggling?

i went with Zito. he's been their best pitcher statistically this season...although Mulder is a real close second.

Very intersting graph...I don't know what it means, either. Cool!

Lets Compare:

Zito 13 Wins Mulder 11 wins
Zito 3 Loses Mulder 5 Loses
Zito 115 K's Mulder 81 k's
Zito 3.12 ERA Mulder 3.53 ERA
Zito 2.56 K/BB Mulder2.45 K/BB

Final Score Zito 5 Mulder 0

and a guy with 13 wins and 3 loses is not an Ace?

Randy Johnson is 13-3 is he not an Ace

Mark Mulder was the opening day starter. That could mean he was the opening day ace, or he was the pitcher with the best stuff coming out of spring training.

Good argument Floyd

Fulla is correct about Mulder being an ace because he started an opening day, thus he should be an ace from the beginning regardless how many wins and losses. So Mulder is actually an ace this season. As for next season, that should remain to be seen because there are three vying for an ace spot. Some team usually keep a same ace til he gets traded......some change the ace every year depend on their records.

I think that Zito should be considered the "ACE" this season....

True, your opening day starter is considered your "ACE" at the beginning of the season most of the time but as the season goes on I think the "ACE" status changes and it would if your team goes to the playoffs...You would think that your "ACE" starter would be the starter for a game 1 and that is not always the guy that started your season as the #1 guy...
