ALLEN PARK, Mich. (July 23, 2002) -- Quarterback Joey Harrington made good on his promise, signing with the Detroit Lions in time to take part in training camp.
Harrington, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, told the team he would not hold out. The former Oregon standout signed on the morning of July 23, in time for practice involving quarterbacks, rookies and selected veterans.
Team president Matt Millen declined to provide contract details.

Who do you want Tigers, McMahon or Harrington.

The correct answer is: We don't care as long as they win. However, it's got to be Harrington, doesn't it? The guy was the third pick in the entire draft. They gave him a signing bonus larger than Guam's GNP. He's got to play and play well. The M & M Boys will downplay him all year, regardless of the team's or McMahon's level of success, but Harrington has to be the future. Eventually, I think he will be starter this year. My guess without seeing him throw a single pass, Game Six.

I'm with Trots. We havn't had a decent QB in the longest time, and one playoff win in the last decade is emarissing. I loved McMahon last year, i love how he plays the game, he plays the game a lot like Brett Favre. But Harrington has a lot of "greatness" in him. Either way, i don't care. Thats why i didn't mind them taking him with their first pick, like a lot of people did. I'll take the chance of him being a bum, if theres a chance he can be great.
