NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Richie Sexson, who batted .550 with two homers and nine RBI, Monday was named National League Player of the Week.

Sexson, who was 11-for-20, led the league is batting average, slugging percentage (.950) and on-base percentage (.615). He earned his first Player of the Week award.

The 27-year-old played in his first All-Star game earlier this month and leads the Brewers in homers (23), RBI (76) and runs scored (64).

Five Arizona Diamondbacks were nominated for the award -- outfielders Luis Gonzalez and Quinton McCracken, shortstop Tony Womack and pitchers Miguel Batista and Curt Schilling.

Also considered were Houston catcher Brad Ausmus and pitchers Wade Miller and Kirk Saarloos, St. Louis' center fielder Jim Edmonds, Cincinnati first baseman Adam Dunn and Florida pitcher A.J. Burnett.
