Yo. What does everyone predict for the upcoming NFL football season....can the Pat's come back and win another? Maybe the Eagles have what it takes to advance that one more round? Raiders? Rams? who do you guys think will win this thing?

I hope that the Chargers will well.
I picked the Eagles to win the Super Bowl. I pick the Falcons to be the fluky team.

I think the Eagles will have a pretty good year. Problably make it to the second round of the playoffs. But i think they put too much into this year. They overspent on many free agents, and are going to have to tear the team down w/in a few years.
The Lions i think will win 4-5 games, but look good doing it. They've got a very good D-Line, but the rest of the defence is too young, immature, small, and injured. Claiborne will problably make his first pro bowl(prediction).
The Chargers i see making the playoffs, but i don't know how far they'll go.
The cheifs will be a big suprise, especially if Gonzalez returns, which he does deserve more than a 1-year, 3 million dollar contract.:hmm:
Cardinals will suprise people, but their D-Line is too week to contend.
The Jets will have a great year, i'd put money on that team.

yeah i think the jets will have a super year myself...but with donovan mcnabb anything can happen...the eagles need a better RB IMO. I dont like Staley....they need a Barber or something

Rams are going to be there again this year. Can't count them out.

Staley is a better reciever then runner. Dorsey Levens is past his prime but is a solid backup.

Seattle could make the playoffs, but I dont see super bowl. They have an outside shot at the wildcard, because they are in such a tough division.

oh well thats cool. I'll be looking at the game stats to see how they do during the year :-D

I haven't stayed up on the other teams, and I'm not saying they will win the Superbowl, but the Browns look awfully good and will contend for the playoffs all season.

I think the browns are gonna be a serious contender for the wildcard.

I think that the Browns will probably take 2nd place in the division... but only by default.

I think that the Browns are going to have a half decent team and possibly make it as a wild card. But they are still too many players away from really contending. They're offensive line is still going to be bad, and I don't see how their run defense is going to be much better.
As for my predictions, I guess everyone is ignoring the Steelers because they know Steelers fans are around on this site and they don't want to hear it from us. I will just let our team do the talking. Steelers all the way.

If William Green can stay healthy, and produce well, that team could win the division. It's deffinatly got the talent to be better than Pittsburgh IMO. But in saying that, i don't think the Browns will be better.

What, the Brownies have the talent to be better than Pittsburgh? That's pretty ridiculous. The Browns probably don't have 5 players who could start for the Steelers. Heck, 5 is probably an overstatement.
Tigers#1

Robert Griffith, Rickey Dudley, Kevin Johnson, Ross Verba, Courtney Brown, Gerard Warren, Dwayne Rudd, Earl Holmes, Jamir Miller, Chris Gardocki, you can even argue Tim Couch, is better than Kordell. Stewart has 1 good year every 3-4 years.
GiveHyzduashot
08-08-2002, 07:43 PM
How is Griffith any better than the Steelers fullback?
Rickey Dudley would not fit in well in this offense. He's a pass catching tight end. The Steelers don't need that. A blocking tight end fits in much better in this offense.
Ross Verba? Not sure if he plays LG/RG but I'll take Faneca or Simmons/Ross over him. Again, there's almost no difference between Verba and any other offensive lineman. Not to mention the offensive line is one of the best in the NFL, why mess with it?
Brown and Warren, yes.
Rudd and Holmes? Are you serious? Over two of Bell, Farrior Gildon, or Porter? Uhhh, no thanks. Not to mention Holmes has knee problems. If he was healthy the Steelers probably would have kept Holmes instead of signing Farrior.
Miller probably could start in Pittsburgh.
Chris Gardocki??? Uhhhh, I'll pass. No big difference between him and Peterson.
As for Couch, one on one he's better than Stewart, but Couch would NOT fit into our offense. He'd be a terrible fit. He's more of a dropback passer, and that's the last thing the Steelers need for this offense.

First off, Robert Griffith is a saftey. Second, like i said it, it was my opinion that they do have better talent, which they "potentially" do. And who cares what i think. Third, i said your Steelers are better than the Browns, so whats the argument?
GiveHyzduashot
08-08-2002, 08:03 PM
Haha, whoops. I got him confused with the FB from Denver, was it Howard Griffith? Still wouldn't matter though, he wouldn't start over Flowers or Logan/Alexander.
The Browns do NOT have better talent than the Steelers in any way, shape, or form. No potential or potential, it doesn't matter. If you want to talk about "potential", then let's talk about the potential of Kordell, Tee, Bettis, Zereoue, Fu, Plax, Edwards, Mays, Mathis, Randle El, Ward, Hartings, Faneca, Simmons, Ross, Gandy, Smith, Hampton, Smith, Bell, Farrior, Fiala, Foote, Gildon, Porter, Poteat, Scott, Washington, Townsend, Alexander, Flowers, Logan, Miller, and Peterson (did I miss anyone?). Then compare that to the Browns. NO comparsion at all.
Next, I think the argument is obvious, which is your statement "It's deffinatly got the talent to be better than Pittsburgh IMO."
Oh well, it's gametime. Time to watch the domination begin ...

Why not, Jacqui? We're a lock for the playoffs unless we lose half our starters, then we'll still be in the chase for the wild card. The Steelers are just playing for the seeding and home field in the playoffs, that's all.

The Brownies don't have the talent to be better than the Steelers unless you are talking about the actual steel factory workers. They don't have the realized talent, they don't have the potential talent . . . there is a reason why the Steelers are the favorite to be in the Superbowl this season and the Browns are being predicted to have an outside shot at the playoffs.
Except for Courtney Brown, who is awesome, none of those players could start over who the Steelers have. Even Kevin Johnson would be our third wide reciever IMO. He might be a better pure wide reciever than Ward, but there is no way I would take Hines out, because of the other things that he can do like block people into submission.
This probably isn't the day to be talking since we got beat last night, but what the hell.

O.K., then in a year or two they potentially have a better shot at being better. Kordell, and Jerome Bettis don't have many good years left in them. And Tee Martin, and Fuamatu, and Zeroque are more, very good back ups, not starters. While Tim Couch, and William Green could be multi-year pro bowlers. And that D-Line is going to be nastey in no time!:2guns:

I am now convinced the Rams will win the Super Bowl. I came to this conclusion by listening to Peter King tell Boston Sports radio about his interview with Kurt Warner. Kurt is a class act.
Kurt said his team lost because he didn't play well, he also could not stop praising what the Pats did, calling them what a sports team is supposed to be about.
How refreshing! Kurt didn't point fingers at his teammates, he took blame. Because he knows he made mistakes(very few IMO) he will correct them and flourish.
Good for you Kurt!

a lot of people do not like Kurt Warner, but I have had nothing but respect for the guy ever since he came into the league. Especially when he signed that long extension for next to nothing when everyone knew he coule have become one of the highest paid players in the league.

Hey Dan, do you know what time the Steelers play the Skins on Sunday??
The Skins have done well this year. I've been surprised by how well Spurrier's offense has done, even if it's only the pre-season.

8 PM Pittsburgh time...I've got a bad feeling that I will not be able to get this one on the satellite :ohno:
Yeah, I'm sure we'll get smoked, the Skins offense sure has been clicking well, but what do you expect? Spurrier is a genious....
A lot of it has to do with his search for a starting quarterback also, I belive....
GiveHyzduashot
08-14-2002, 01:30 AM
If we get smoked, I don't care as long as everyone stays healthy. Did you hear about Batch and Simmons?? Batch hit his hand on a helmet, thought he broke a bone. Nothing major, he'll practice tomorrow. Simmons also had x-rays taken for a possible broken bone in his hand, but he was OK and practiced today. Supposedly had a great practice, best one all year.
Spurrier is a genious. What can you say? He's an offensive mastermind. Him and Marvin Lewis on the same staff, very bright coaches.
BPBlueSox
08-14-2002, 01:33 AM
It'll still be interesting to see how Washington's passing game is during the regular season against real defenses....
Anyways, I had heard about Simmons, but when did that happen with Batch?
GiveHyzduashot
08-14-2002, 01:39 AM
I think it happened in practice today. Luckily it's not a broken bone.
I agree with you on Washington's offense. I think Spurrier's going to have games where he lights up the scoreboard and then the offense looks terrible. As he gains experience I think he'll see more of lighting up the scoreboard than a terrible offense. 9-7 IMO would be a good season for them.
BPBlueSox
08-14-2002, 01:42 AM
I agree that 9-7 would probably be an accurate prediction...
I would be more worried about Batch if he was going to be our backup for sure, but after seeing the way Maddox played last Thursday, I'm not too worried....
Anyways, it was fun chasin' ya all over the boards, I'm headin off to dreamland...have a good one Josh...
GiveHyzduashot
08-14-2002, 01:45 AM
Point taken on Batch, but I think Batch is a better fit than Maddox for this offense. And Batch has significant experience, too. If all goes well then Batch and Maddox both won't see a second of playing time unless it's 35-10 ...
I'm heading off to dreamland too. Enjoyed playing "board tag" with ya tonight Dan.
