BOSTON (AP) -- The Red Sox activated Carl Everett before Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox and made room on the roster by sending right-hander Tomo Ohka to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Everett, on the disabled list since June 22 with a right knee strain, started in center field and batted sixth after missing 33 games. He was hitting .284 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs before the injury.
Ohka was 2-5 with a 6.19 ERA in 11 starts and one relief appearance for Boston.
The Red Sox also sent injured right-hander Frank Castillo to Pawtucket for a rehabilitation assignment.
