MINNEAPOLIS (TICKER) -- Hampered since May by a groin injury, pitcher Brad Radke returns Saturday night for the Minnesota Twins
Radke has not pitched since May 30, when he threw just 12 pitches before aggravating the right groin injury in a game against Anaheim.
"It will be nice to see Brad out there," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said after Minnesota's 2-1 victory in the series opener on Friday. "I'm sure it'll be nice for everyone to see him walk back out on the mound. (But) we're trying to protect the pitchers. I don't know how long Brad will go."
Radke originally pulled the groin in a May 14 game and was placed on the disabled list for the first time. Hours after being activated, he aggravated the injury and spent the next two months on the disabled list.
The 29-year-old righthander is 4-2 with a 5.23 ERA in 10 starts. He was 15-11 with a 3.94 ERA last season and has a 97-97 career record.
Despite the absence of Radke, the first-place Twins (67-43) have built a 15-game lead over the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central.
