SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Russell Branyan homered three times in the first seven innings Sunday for the Cincinnati Reds against the San Diego Padres.
Branyan, acquired on June 7 in a trade from Cleveland, hit a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo home run in the fourth off Padres starter Bobby J. Jones.
After striking out in the sixth against Jones, Branyan hit a two-run homer in the seventh off reliever Mike Holtz that tied the game at 10.
It was the first three-homer game of Branyan's career. He has nine home runs with the Reds this season after hitting eight with Cleveland.
Very impressive has done just about as good already with the Reds as he did with the Indians
