I just got home from work and found this in my e-mail:

...the Twins have traded Matt Lawton and Kyle Lohse to your Rockies for Larry Walker. Have you heard anything??

No, I haven't heard anything, but if anyone else does, please holler!!!

Yea i heard that earlier too.I dont know that twins prospect but Lawton has a lot of speed to run that outfield in Coors, so maybe they are trying to unload Walker and his contract but doesnt he have a No-trade?

Yes, he does have a no-trade. Him and Helton are severely pissed at the club for dumping Mayne and Perez, though, so I wouldn't doubt that either one or both ask to be traded.

I've called 2 local radio stations trying to find something out, but no one is admitting to hearing anything...very strange...

Larry Walker seems perfect for the mets ,he is a lefty hits for average and is all ready signed. But i dont think the mets can even come close to offering what the twins and other team can, Whats your point of view on this trade? would you want to dump Walker for Lawton and that other guy?

if this is true, it would really surprise me.. Especially ni light od all that i have read recently about the rockies finally realizing that they essentially have to outslug their opponents in order to have success at coors field. The twins prospect had been rumored to be coming to pittsburgh a lot, and let me tell you, he is nothing to write home about.

I have very mixed emotions on this, if it comes to pass. On one hand, I'd be happy for Walk to get a chance to play on a contender, which apparently isn't going to happen here any time soon. On the other hand, I'd hate to see him leave Denver, as he is one exciting player to watch, and is definitely the fan favorite.

But now, back to reality. He has missed 7 of his last 8 starts due to a pulled hammy. It seems that the injury bug is back, and that he may go on the DL. That alone will probably nix any trade. If that's not enough, he has 4 years left at $12+ mil/year. A team would have to be looking to the future, more than at immediate help down the stretch.

From the Rockies point of view, I'm not real sure. It would free up quite a bit of money, and Lawton would be a good pick up. The Rox are such a mess right now, I don't think there's a lot that will help them this season.

Well, with Lawton going to NY, that pretty much puts this to rest. I suspect Walker will still be moved, but probably during the off-season.
