San Francisco claims Eyre off waivers from Toronto
San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants have claimed relief pitcher Scott Eyre off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. The lefthander had appeared in 46 games with Toronto.
Eyre posted a 1-2 record with a 3.67 ERA. With the Blue Jays, left-handed hitters had just a .218 batting average against Eyre.
Eyre pitched four seasons, 1997-2000, with the Chicago White Sox before moving to Toronto prior to the 2001 campaign. For his career, Eyre has appeared in 144 games, posting a 5.39 ERA.
To make room for Eyre on the 40-man roster, the Giants designated minor league pitcher Jason Pearson for assignment. The team will make a move on Friday to make room for Eyre on the 25-man roster.

I like Eyre, but it goes to show, Toronto still doesen't know how to get that 5th starter, after Chris Mihalack and Eyre.
