OK everyone it's time to sing along with the
lyrics to take me out to the ball game!

Take me out to the ball game
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and Crackerjacks
I don't care if I never never get back

Let me root, root root for the home team
If they don't win it's a shame
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out
At the old ball game!

O.K., we've determined you already know the easy part of the lyric. But are you familiar with the much lesser-known, introductory verses that set up the popular refrain? Don't attempt to sing it to the melody you know, it won't fit. But here's the words anyway:

Katie Casey was baseball mad,
Had the fever and had it bad;
Just to root for the home town crew,
every soul Katie blew
On a Saturday, her young beau
called to see if she'd like to go,
To see a show but Miss Katie said "no,
I'll tell you what you can do:"

Katie Casey saw all the games,
Knew the players by their first names;
Told the umpire he was wrong,
all along good and strong
When the score was just two to two,
Katie Casey knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the gang sing this song:

And that leads you right back in to the grand old tune baseball fans know and love. Now you know a little bit more about song and you'll never reach for your peanuts and Cracker Jack quite the same way :-)

Very cool!! It totally changes the song, being that it's a GIRL who's so into the game!!! Yeah for her!

Hey, I wonder if that girl, Katie Casey had a father who played for the Mudville Nine??
