The Rockies purchased the contract of veteran catcher Sal Fasano, acquired from Kansas City with pitcher Mac Suzuki for Brent Mayne on June 24. He was in uniform Monday and took Pedro Astacio's spot on the 25-man roster.
To make room for Fasano on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Craig Dingman was designated for assignment.
Right-handed pitcher John Thomson, whose rehab assignment with AAA Colorado Springs has ended, also was with the team Monday and is expected to be activated. He most likely will take Astacio's turn in the rotation for Thursday afternoon's game against the Phillies.
