Phillies Unveil New Ballpark Plans

A World-Class Baseball Experience for Fans Inspires Design

Philadelphia, PA - June 28, 2001 - The Phillies today unveiled architectural design plans for its new 43,000-seat, natural-grass and dirt-field ballpark. Set to debut in time for opening day of the 2004 season, the Phillies are developing the New Ballpark with the goal of building a world-class baseball-only venue that offers fans an intimate and exciting experience.

The New Ballpark will be constructed just east of Veterans Stadium on the north side of Pattison Avenue between 11th and Darien Streets in South Philadelphia and will span a 21-acre site. The New Ballpark structure will be situated uniformly within the city street grid.

July 14, 2001
The Phillies began the 1,000-day countdown to Opening Day, 2004 with the first 1,000 fans exchanging their well-worn Phillies T-Shirts for a 1,000-day countdown T-Shirt.
June 29, 2001
The Phillies unveil the left field foul pole in its exact location followed by the celebratory Mellon Fireworks before a crowd of 36,433.
June 28, 2001
The Phillies officially unveil the architectural design plan for its new 43,000-seat, natural grass and dirt field ballpark.
