Yeah, I do feel bad for not doing my pbp here because I noticed there aren't many ppl here which I can't understand why or what is happening. That's why I did my pbp at other place that is packed. Well... Hugh is a huge part of the IPBP. He has kept a huge amount of us together by busting his butt on no less than 3 boards since mets.com went down. Grandslamsingle.com was in testing when this board came about, me and several others involved in the pbp were testers on the new board, and it's like home there.

I don't want you to feel bad about it, 'cause there is no way for people to tell each other, "hey! I got a new board coming!"
We were even going thru thinking of domain names at the last tailgate, and were voting for suggestions on his EZ Board. (Before this board was made public) It's been in the planning and works phases for so long, and it just feels comfortable doing the pbp there.

One suggestion... it seems like a trivial thing... maybe you guys can tweak the colors/graphics around here... it seems so dark and muddy... it's not very visually appealing. That's not a bash, it's meant to be constructive. It may not seem like it should mean much, but you'd be surprised... the busiest sites are the ones which are inviting to the eye.

I'll still bounce around and post, but GSS is my home base, James.

Nah, I don't take your suggestion as a bash at all in fact we are still working on making the site better...We may be changing to the VBulletin which allows more room for neat things like polls and color etc....
I think it's cool that you guys stick together but if that was the case why would Misha want to be a Mod here and say she was going to do IPBP if she had somewhere else to do so...Again, I'm not upset at all and I think it is great that you stick together anywhere you choose to but I just wish Misha would have told me thats all....
Also, I guess I wasn't in the loop as I thought...When we started having problems at HB I went out to find a new place where we would be happy...Once I did I PM'd or emailed everyone and told them to let everyone know so we could all stick together....Now there is this new site that was made and I found out about it not by invite but by a IPBP thread.....I kinda thought that I was the kind of poster people enjoyed posting with (especially Met fans) as I am opinioniated and very knowledgeable as well as very optimisitc......
Not trying to rile any feathers here just letting you know what is on my mind...I guess I just thought wrong.....

I can only say it must have been a total mistake and oversight!

A lot of the GSS posters, were on the EZ Board, and hyperbaseball... they might have known the new board was forming from the old ez board... I'm not sure that actual invites were done, or if most just knew... ???

Anyway, consider this an invitation to come and play whenever you like. I know this is your main board, but stop by and hang out. Ok....I've been thinking of doing PBP here and GSS on the weekend (either Sat-here or Sun-GSS or visa verse). However during the week nights, I won't be able to do that since I work nights. So Hugh or/and Khaos could do it on alternate nights.
What do you think, Hugh and Khaos?

I myself am NOT shocked that james didn't get an invitation (nothing personal james). Honestly, some of the posters at that site piss me off big time-- there's an elitist/cliquey vibe that permeates the air. And I think "they" are not the most welcoming to new people. A few months ago, I took colin with me to the opening day tailgate and he said certain people were so F-N rude to him, he felt uncomfortable and didn't want to go back. let me tell ya, that really really pisses me off... especially when i used to hear it ALOT from different people how cliquey and unfriendly "they" were, but i always defended them and gave them the benefit of the doubt...but then when i started experiencing it more, i just got fed up so i'm not gonna bother wasting my time.....

ANYWAY.... sorry to vent, but i just wanted to let james know that it wasn't personal-- imo, that group of people (some of them) are cliquey and do not go out of their way trying to make new friends, so that's why i'm not surprised he didn't get an invite

I always thought that all of the old Mets.com'ers should have a place to post together again. I had been planning the new board for a while to gather everybody, and it was the testing stages for a while. When I got the domain name, I invited the Bean Gang. I was planning on inviting all of the Hyperbaseball peeps soon thereafter. But people whom I had invited started inviting people from HB, so I figured that I never had to. I tried to mention it in a IPbP thread on HB, so that anyone who didn't get an invite would know. I'm sorry that you never got a personal invite James, it was a gross oversight on my part. Consider this a full invite, I would love to have you post on GrandSlamSingle.com.

And as far as this board goes, I think that it is a great board with a helpful admin who is willing to go the extra mile and do whatever he can to make this a comfortable home for his fellow baseball fans. By making my own board, I never wanted to steal users or stop posting on any other board. I hope both this board and HB do well. In fact, perhaps the admin here and I can agree on some banner ad exchanges to get each other more users. I will certainly continue to come here, I and will try and post more.

I just read your post. I'm sorry that you feel that way, and I'm sorry that you had bad experiences at the tailgates. I hope I am not one of those people that you are refering to. You didn't respond when I e-mailed you to ask why you weren't at the site; now I know why.

I would ask you to please reconsider coming to the site. I think people have perceived that group as exclusive, when I don't believe they are. Perhaps there are a couple of members who act so, and give the impression that the rest of them are. I urge you to come by and see for yourself.

If there's anything else that I can do to rectify this situation, please let me know.

I was planning on doing all of the IPbPs on GSS, but maybe alternating would be a good idea. Let's see what others think.

Is that why Mariela hasn't joined us on GSS either? You know, Cyn, I felt a little like that when I joined mets.com. But as I continued to post and get to know the people, I felt more and more accepted. I think the reason it seems so elitist is because they're all really good friends and have been for the past 3-4 years. So it's not that they're trying to exclude newcomers, just that they're so happy to see each other, they don't make time to get to know others. I'm sorry that Colin had the bad experience. It certainly shouldn't make anyone feel uncomfortable.

I think alternating PBP is a good idea. B/w GSS, HB and here....that way people that visit only one or two boards can see it a couple of times a week http://forum.addictsports.com/baseball/ubb/smile.gif

I agree with some things you mentioned there Cyn , they do seem like a tight little group over there but what Purva said is also true they have been friends and have known each other for like 3-4 years or something so maybe thats why they seem so cliquey or elitist, thats why I havent really posted much yet because i really dont feel like bringing everyone down or whatever it is i do I also didnt get an invitation until i noticed there was barely anyone at HB and PB sent me a pm so that was cool of her but whatever it's up to them its cool if they stick together i really don't mind

I post in several sites here being one and HB and at Hugh's new site.
I gotta say Hugh put a lot of effort into the new board and it looks great! It's nice to see a lot of old Mets.com'ers some of whom I haven't seen since the site went down.
The Bean Gang (like any family) has it's cliques and non-cliques. I get along with some and not so much with others. If some people don't like me well....too bad. I know who my friends are.
