Yankees recall Castillo and Choate as rosters expand

Toronto (AP) — The New York Yankees recalled catcher Alberto Castillo and left-handed reliever Randy Choate from Triple-A Columbus as major league rosters expanded Sunday.

Castillo, who started 12 games for the Yankees earlier this season, hit .275 with no home runs and eight RBIs in 30 games with Columbus.

Choate went 3-2 with a 1.72 ERA in 31 games with Columbus. Choate is in his fifth stint with the Yankees this season.

Yeah, God knows why. I'm sitting here waiting for shoulder surgery and I could still hit the ball better than him!!!!

lol...actually, now that i think about it it's a pretty smart move. it gives us an emergency catcher behind Widger and Jorge, and it also gives Torre the option of DHing Widger (who has had a HOT bat recently :)) and not having to worry about losing the DH should Jorge get injured during the same game.
