As I already stated in another thread, Joe Borchard was called up before todays game. He was in the lineup, and he hit a monster 2-run homer to straight away centerfield. The former Stanford QB was hitting .270 with 20 home runs at AAA Charlotte.
Along with Borchard, Jon Rauch was recalled from AAA. The 6-11 righty was 7-8 with a 4.28 ERA at Charlotte. In an earlier stint with the club, Rauch was 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA in 4 starts. He is expected to compete for a spot in next years rotation.

The Sox released Royce Clayton on Sunday. They will be paying him over half a million dollars the rest of the season.

The Sox called up catcher Miguel Olivo yesterday. This is kind of funny:
NEW YORK—Catcher Miguel Olivo was recalled from Double-A Birmingham on Saturday after leading the Barons to the Southern League championship, earning playoff MVP honors in the process.
Olivo arrived in the second inning of Saturday's White Sox-Yankees game and was last seen wearing a dress. His teammates had taken away his clothes as part of a rookie hazing ritual that happens every September.
"I'm embarrassed," Olivo said with a laugh as he took off the dress. "My family is here, my wife is here ... and I don't know where my clothes are."
Manager Jerry Manuel said Olivo would be in the starting lineup Sunday and has a chance to stick with the team out of spring training next year.
Olivo, 24, hit .306 with six home runs, 10 triples, 49 RBIs and 29 stolen bases in 106 games for the Barons. He hit four homers in the postseason.
Olivo was one of the first players general manager Ken Williams acquired when he took over Oct. 24, 2000. Olivo came from Oakland for right-handed sidearmer Chad Bradford and is now considered the team's catcher of the future.
