I know Bob Horner went straight from college to the majors and homered in his first game. I remember one time there was some talk of sending him down but he said he would refuse to go. Whether or not he actually ever got sent down at some point or had a rehab assignment or something like that, I don't remember.

No, he didn't go down to the minors. I recall that situation as well. He played for a year in Japan before finishing up with the Cardinals.
