Hmmm, The only one I can think of off hand is Fred Lynn:confused:

After digging through piles of stuff, Fred Lynn is the only ROY to also win the MVP (AL, '75). Is this a trick question...pre '47 (ROY) or pre '31 (MVP)?

well, here's where i got this question.......

it was during the skank/oakland game friday or saturday last weekend...... one of those trivia questions they throw at you right before a commercial......

if i remember correctly, the question was something like "WHICH 2 MAJOR LEAGUERS WON ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AND MVP....?" (i'm sure they said "the same year" but i could be wrong)

and the answer was Cal Ripken and Jeff Bagwell...... the annoucers during the game were discussing it and nobody could figure out who the 2nd one was..... they all got Cal Ripken but no one thought of Bagwell.......

i thought they had said "the same year" but then when i look up both of their career highlights from different sources, i get inconsistent information:confused:

and Ripken got Rookie of the year in '82 (i believe) and then mvp in '83, so then it can't be the same year.......

*sigh* i think i need to e-mail FOX and find out how that question was phrased exactly (it was very simply stated!)

but the answer was Ripken and Bagwell.........

There have been several ROY's to win MVP honors later in their career - Mays, Cepeda, etc. - so I don't see a connection there. The only other award connection I see is the gold gloves - and again, many other players fall in that catagory.

I hate those "...and now for our Aflac trivia question of the day.." questions! I always miss either part of the question or never hear the answer. They drive me kwazy!

lol, i know what you mean!:) but this one was intriguing to me cuz i swear it was such a simple question! i scribbled it down but i'm thinking i must have missed a word or two or phrased it differently.....

well, now i'll be obsessed with figuring out the connection between Ripken and Bagwell and their ROY and MVP awards...:confused:
