BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators right wing Chris Neil, who led the team in penalty minutes as a rookie last season, suffered a fractured left fibula Saturday in a 6-3 preseason loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Neil was injured in the final minute of the second period while fighting with Buffalo rookie Sean McMorrow. He is expected to miss up to six weeks.
The injury came a week after the 23-year-old Neil signed a multi-year contract. Last season, he collected 10 goals, seven assists and 231 penalty minutes in 72 games.
