When do the Pens play their first regular season game? I was talking about that today and nobody knew ... and I'm too lazy to look on my own.

How long is Straka out? He's out for two or three weeks of the regular season, right?

Alexander Daigle's looked good so far.

from what i was reading today, Straka will not be out for that long. They said that he is skating well, and looks like he could be ready within the first week or so. I just hope that they do not rush him back too quickly. We NEED a halthy Straka if we have any chance of making the playoffs.

The first puck falls tomorrow night against Toronto.

There is a pretty good hockey preview in today's post gazette.

A few weeks ago they were saying that doctors had not ruled out season-ending surgery on a damaged ligament near his vertebra....

Is this no longer the case????? Is he pretty much in the clear??

Straka had suffered a weight lifting back injury during the offseason. Apparently, he has pretty much recovered from that as he has bene skating well recently. They still do have ot be cautious with him though as to not mess their season up again by not having him around.

On a side note.... The Pens have gone back to their old logo Pre-1993. The last time that they wore this logo, they had just won two Stanley Cups in a row. Then, they changed to that ugly goofy looking thing.

Could this mean a return to past glory???

I guess if Mario returns to his greatness, Straka plays great, Kovalev plays great, and Daigle returns to past heights....we might make the playoffs....:D

I'm concerned about the depth. There's really no scoring threats after you get past Lemieux, Kovalev, and Straka. Morozov figures to be an adequate second line player, and Daigle is somewhat of an unknown, though I believe he'll have a good season.

The defense, as always, is weak, and the goaltending is a question mark too. Hedberg is decent, but after that the goaltending is weak.

I do think the Penguins will make the playoffs. It can't be worse than last season. Last season was terrible ... everything that could go wrong did.

I like Kris Beech a lot. I thought he would of been a perfect fit in Washington, but he's your's now, and i think he's close to breaking out.

Kris beech didn't make the roster.

In looking at the probably opening lines, I like them. Looks like we have a lot of balance going in this season between scoring forwards, and defensive minded forwards. The line pairings I saw, of course, are without Straka.

Wow... Are you serious?? I had no idea.

I thought that the season would end after one night in which the Pens didn't even get to play a game. I had been sitting here all day trying to figure out how they could possibly make a run at the playoffs without playing a game. I thought that training camp was a waste of time since they weren't going to play.

Wow.. I can finally sleep tonight knowing thta the NHL season is not over yet.

Thank you so much for your kindness.
