Mark Shapiro recently did an interview about the upcoming season. Here are the important parts.

Manager-He hopes to have one in place by Thanksgiving. He also said he might not need to conduct interviews which could mean he is leaning toward interim manager Joel Skinner.

Jim Thome-Shapiro said they don't want to break the bank on one player; however he also said that Thome was the kind of player who is the exception since he great on the field and even better off the field in the community. Specualtion is the Tribe will offer Thome around 12 million a year for 4 or 5 years.

Karim Garcia-Shapiro said that Garcia will go into Spring Training with a starting job. He is also is available for arbitration, but he doubts it will. This could mean they will offer Garcia a multi-year contract.

Third Base-It is a thin free agent crop and the Tribe has prospects at the lower levels. Shapiro hinted at signing a lower tier player, no more than 2 million, for a year or two until some of their young players are ready.
