A lot of papers here in NY have already made their predictions for the 2002/2003 season. None of them thinks the Islanders will finish above 3rd in the Atlantic Division. I am not amused, but can only hope that the boys in Blue and Orange will use this as an incentive to prove them wrong...AGAIN!
I went to a pep rally for the team yesterday, and 8,000 people showed up. The entire team was there along with the best-looking coach in the league. :lust:
LET'S GO ISLANDERS! :clap2: :clap2: - :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I guess there basing that on Peca's health, he was the heart of the team last year. There going to have to hope from a really big first half from Alexei Yashin.
The Rangers are suppossed to return to life this year; don't we hear this everywhere :D

I for one am excited for the first time in years about the Rangers chances to returning to the playoffs...
Bure has a chance to break Adam Graves single season Ranger goal record as he is a bonefide 60 goal threat.....
I am also excited to have ex-Islander Bryan Trottier leading us....Hopefully he will add fire and emotion to this often lifeless team....
Bobby Holik should also be a nice addition to the 2nd line....
I also expect Leetch to pickup his goal scoring from last season although he is as steady as they come...
The emergence of Vladimir Malakhov as a second threat on the power play is beneficial to Leetch, who will be aided on special teams by the signing of Darius Kasparaitis and a full season of Tom Poti, as well.
Good luck to all teams and 1 day to the dropping of the puck!!!:clap2:

I think Yashin can step up to the plate, as it were, with guys like Scatchard and Bates alongside him. Peca was the first man on the ice every day of camp, and the team has rallied behind him. He is still the captain, and still has the respect of his teammates.

I've decided to get more involved in hockey this year. I'm going to root for the Bluejackets so it could be a long season for me.
