The White Sox sent four pitchers to Class AAA Charlotte Tuesday, the most notable being right-hander Lorenzo Barcelo.
The 25-year-old Barcelo, who first came to the Sox as part of the so-called "White Flag" trade with the Giants in 1997, started last season with the Sox but was sent down to Charlotte in April and never returned after getting hurt. He pitched six innings over four games and had a 9.00 earned run average.
He pitched in 43 games for the Sox the last three seasons and went 4-2 in 2000. He had surgery on his rotator cuff in 2001 after going 1-0 in 17 games.
The other three pitchers were Kyle Kane, Mitch Wylie and left-hander Thomas Jacquez, who also were on the injured list after starting at Charlotte this summer.
Kane was the third Sox selection in the 1997 amateur draft; he was picked before current Sox pitchers Jim Parque and Rocky Biddle. Both he and Wylie had solid seasons at Birmingham in 2001 but struggled early on at Charlotte.
The Sox claimed Jacquez off waivers from Philadelphia last January. He pitched in nine games with the Phillies in 2000 and had an 11.05 earned run average.
