yeah hes got a bye, but what happens if he tore some ligaments? It looked pretty damned serious. whens the last time you saw brett crying? Probably never. so packer fans should be worried.

They said on Prime Time that they didn't think there was anything too serious with Farve's knee. They said he was walking around the locker room without any ice on it and without too bad a limp. When they did the ROM exercises on him, his knee moved well, without showing any ligament damge. He's having an MRI today.
I'm betting he'll be back just fine after the bye week.

true, from what they are saying, its not as bad as they feared. but they did say there was probably SOME damage there. thats what i hear anyways (i take what i hear on PT with a huge grain of salt especially in late games like the packers had). :)

He should be back, but ya never know with knee injuries. The MRI will tell all so until then its probably useless speculation.

What a solid game by the Steelers. Start to finish...

That score could have been a lot uglier!

Back to .500 and back in first! :D :D :D

The Ratbirds are going down on Sunday!

They're going down like Mon . . . oh yeah, this is a family thing, isn't it? :hmm: I'll just say that they are going to get whooped pretty bad for now and leave it at that . . .

Joey Harrington is playing very well, but I'm not surprised. I'm a little surprised he is doing it so quickly, but after seeing him so much in college, I was pretty sure he had what it took.

Drew Brees is the man. I wanted the Steelers to take him with their first round pick last season. Not that we did that bad with Casey Hampton, who is a pretty damn good nose tackle, but I always liked Brees.

Lot of over time games this week. At least that's what it seemed like to me. They really need to change their overtime system to one that is more like the NCAA system.

Speaking of overtimes, we almost had a tie this weekend, since that Dallas - Arizona game got down to around 2 or 3 minutes to go in OT....

The Dallas-Arizona game will be the worst game all season.

All those turnovers, three missed field goals in the last few minutes, two mediocre at best teams (that's stretching it), and a 9-6 game ... what excitement. :hmm:

I would say that the Cardinals have been a bit more than mediocre... after all.. they are tied for first place.

I knew I'd get that response from someone.

The teams they've beaten have a combined 10-16 record. That's subpar. That is a .384 winning percentage.

The Cardinals have scored less than 17 points in half of the games played. Overall they're averaging 18 points a game, and they're giving up 16 points a game.

Their average margin of victory is a little over a touchdown. So they're not blowing anyone away.

The Cardinals are a mediocre team.

it doesnt matter how you win or who you beat as long as you win. thats the only thing that matters

Josh, If you go back to some message boards from last season, those are the EXACT same things that people were saying about the Steelers early on in the season. The Cards are still beating NFL teams, and aside from the beating the Bungles, that is still an accomplishment.

There's no comparison at all between the Cardinals and Steelers. The Steelers, before last season, were struggling, but they DID make the playoffs SEVERAL times. The Cardinals haven't made the playoffs for YEARS.

Even with the Steelers start last year, they were vastly more talented than the Cardinals. The Cardinals, at this point this year compared to the Steelers point last year, have an advantage in David Boston .. that's it. Everything else, the Steelers were better in after 6 games in 2001 compared to 6 Cardinals games in 2002.

The Steelers have always had and will always have great fan support. The Cardinals don't. The Cardinals average 30,000 a game. The Steelers draw twice that.

When the Steelers started off hot last year, people KNEW they would be good. They HAD the talent. The Cardinals don't.

The opponent's record after 6 games of the teams the Steelers beat was 11-19 ... a .367 winning percentage. In that respect, the two are nearly equal.

The offense averaged 18 PPG, so they're about equal there.

However, the scoring defense was 9 points. That is a huge difference from the Cardinals giving up nearly as many points per game on defense as they score. The Steelers defense allowed half as many points as to what they scored.

The Steelers average margin of victory was around 13 points a game ... nearly two touchdows, compared to 7+ for the Cards.

The Cardinals haven't even begun the tough part of their schedule yet. They still play San Francisco twice, St. Louis twice, and Seattle, Kansas City, Oakland, and Denver.

Further, the Steelers played in a weaker division, and had a solid chance to win at least 11 games. The Cardinals play in the same division as San Francisco, St. Louis, and a good but struggling Seattle team.

The two teams are hardly similar. I guarantee the Cardinals won't even make the playoffs, let alone finish 13-3 with homefield and a berth in the NFC Championship. They're similar in two small ways. That's it.

As much as I like Jake the Snake Plummer, I have to agree with Josh. There is no comparison with the Steelers at all. It wouldn't shock me to see the Cardinals finish around 8-8 or so, but they are not a GOOD team. They stuggled with Dallas at home...that should be enough said right there. They have definitely taken advantage of an easy schedule.....

woah woah... you guys TOTALLY missed the boat with what I was saying...

The ONLY comparison I was making to the cardinals and Steelers of last season was what people said about the "combined record of their opponents." That's it. That was half of Josh's original argument for the Cards being "mediocre." I believe that the numbers which he gave pretty much proved my point in that regard. Which was, that winning games in the NFL, regardless of WHO they are against, means something. I do not see how you can call a 4-2 team "mediocre" in today's NFL.

Shawn, we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

You've said you don't see how anyone can call them mediocre, but I've outlined why I felt that way twice, both posts fairly lengthy.

I (strongly) believe the Cardinals are a mediocre at best team now, and I (strongly) believe after 16 games, my opinion won't be any different unless the Cardinals miraculously make the playoffs.

You read it here first.

The Cardinals will make the playoffs

(Hey,... I was right about the Angels in May... so why not now.)

The Cards are not making the playoffs. Maybe in the old format...but not now.

I would have to say the Cards are a long, long, long, long, long shot to make the playoffs ...

No way do they get through the rest of their schedule with only three or four losses - 49ers and Rams can contain them and although the Chiefs and Raiders defenses suck - the Cards haven't shown they can put up 35+ points to stay with them

If I had to guess now how the season will end up i'd say :

West - 49ers | East - Philly | North - G.B. | South - N.O.
Wild Cards - Tampa Bay & STL

Josh, do you realize how much of a moron I would have to be in order to bet on a team which has sucked for years just because of a feeling that I have?? I was born at night, but not last night.
