Below is the 2003 Houston Astros schedule ... Houston has a rough opening month with a 13-game roadtrip from 14-27 April ... And they close with a less-than-desirable September, including just 10 home games (16 away) and 12 of their 26 games in the final month against the NL West.

The 'Stros also have a 6-game roadtrip in June (10-15) that takes them through the Bronx and Beantown for 3 games each ... The Orioles and Devil Rays visit the Bayou City for 3 games each from 3-8 June ... And, of course, we have the home-and-home I-45 series with the Rangers during what shapes up to be a "June-ior Circuit Month" in June for Houston.

It's a shame that Houston can't get either the Yankees or Red Sox on their home schedule ... But it's a blessing in disguise for Houston fans, if you ask me ... Any Astros fan who hasn't visited either Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park should do themselves a huge favor and plan their vacation for that second week of June ... Seriously, if you're going to watch the Astros play the Yanks or the Sox, would you rather enjoy historical venues such as The Stadium or Fenway, or see them play in Arthur Andersen Memorial Stadium?

PopTop I am thinking of coming down that way for a Houston game. I have not yet seen the new digs there with the retract roof and all. Do you go to the games at all? I try to see the ballparks that are close by where ever I have lived with my pops being in the military I saw some parks all up north. I love the Ballpark in Arlington here. I live about 5 minutes away. I am looking for a long weekend trip down there in May or June probably. Interleague is in June, and I see we are playing each other again. I will let you know if I am going to make it though.

Cool, keep me posted ... I didn't go to a single Astros game last year, first time in franchise history, because I just wasn't too pleased with what the MLB game atmosphere had become, I was unhappy with the decision to fire Dierker/hire Williams, and they raised the price for my section of seats (LF Crawford Boxes, where everyone thinks zillions of homers go each season :hmm: ) ... But I'm already counting on taking in some games this year, hoping to get some freebie seats offered during weekdays when I'm in Houston ... Plus I'm already planning on taking in a few games in early June with the O's and Devil Rays come to town (Tampa is the only club I haven't seen play live and in person)

Let me know when you're coming and I'll at least try to meet you somewhere near the stadium before a game ... I like the new park, and getting around downtown Houston isn't all that bad no matter what Mayor Lee "Jackhammer & A Prayer" Brown does to the place ... The new stadium, that I still call Enron or Arthur Andersen Memorial, is a pretty nice place, pretty fan friendly (except the prices) and neat from an engineering angle if you're into that ... One thing I think that makes it a little more fan friendly than The Ballpark in-between Big D & Cowtown is the way it's open on each level ... You can be standing back in the beer line and still see the field in most places ... That's one thing I don't like about Rangers Baseball, when you're getting a hotdog you have to watch the monitors to see any of the action.

Again, just let me know when you're coming around.

That is true about the ballpark here. Once I sat where they actually waited on us in the section so you just told them what you wanted and like 5 minutes later it was in your lap. It was cool for one game. My Mom works for a guy that has season seats 19 rows off of the visitors dugout and he gives away his seats on Fridays when he can't make the weekend games and he knows my Mom loves sports so most times she gets the seats. I like the shade of the Homerun porch here when the summer starts heating up. But I just like being in the park to watch the game. I sit on the edge of my seat most of the game.

I will try to let you know when I come down. We will still have to be convincing the wife to let me come or for her to join me. We will see though.

Photo Day:umm That's what they mean. The Mets have been doing it since 1998. They allow the first 2500 fans on the field before the game to take photos of the players. The players are on the field and they are behind a rope which is all that separates them from the fans. If you think about it, to the players it almost feels like a petting zoo atmosphere.

The Hamilton/Ashby Bobblehead, the Mets will be having that this year too, but they will be honoring 2 of their longtime broadcasters Bob Murphy/Ralph Kiner. The Phillies started the dual bobbleheads last year by giving away a Harry Kalas/Richie Ashburn bobblehead to adult fans. BTW, the Murphy/Kiner bobblehead is for the adults too. (a good move on the Mets promotions department)
