Stottlemyre retires
Stottlemyre
Injury-plagued right-hander Todd Stottlemyre announced his retirement on Oct. 29, The Arizona Republic reported. Stottlemyre knew his time had come shortly after suffering back spasms during a rehabilitation assignment. "Do I wish I could pitch? Yes, I wish I could," Stottlemyre told The Republic. "I love it that much, even at my age and what I went through. If I could get out there and be accountable, I'd be filing (for free agency)." The 37-year-old Stottlemyre had been troubled by shoulder problems in his four years with the Diamondbacks. "I came up short on accountability to my contract to the club for doing the things I signed to do," Stottlemyre said. "On the other side of the fence, I grew more as a person off the field in Arizona than probably at any other part of my life." :D :D :D
