Although I'm still stuck at work, I'm having a glass of wine. Coupla beers here to if you want one.

Birthdays rule. How are you folks feeling about Jimy? He drove me insane.

PP --- Thanks for stopping in the Lonely Hearts Hotel, aka The Houston Astros Forum ... Glad to hear your birthday was a good one ... When I saw that we shared a birthday early on, after one of my smart-alec remarks, I kinda' chuckled.

Anyway, back to Jimy ... He's driving a lot of folks down here nuts as well ... He cost Oswalt a 20-win season, though I've never been a proponent of individual stats over team ... And he had several players upset and wanting on the trading block by the end of the season.

A lot of us are still upset that owner Drayton McLane and GM Gerry Hunsicker made the decision to let Larry Dierker go after 2001, basically allowing the inmates to run the asylum ... It doesn't get much press, but what Craig Biggio wants, Craig Biggio gets down here ... He's the no-doubt-about-it guy in charge of the clubhouse ... And he's exercised way too much control and influence on this team.

He was right out there in front a few years back to bring Ken Caminiti back to the team ... But when Cammy basically showed he has an IQ of about 14, Biggio was nowhere to be found ... I'm convinced he helped drive a spike between Dierker and Mike Hampton as well ... Dierker wouldn't put up with Biggio's controlling ego, and it was Biggio who spoke out following the loss in 2001 playoffs, in effect saying Dierker couldn't get the team over the proverbial hump ... Dierker's little venting to the press after one of the losses to Atlanta that October didn't help either.

Ok, enough rambling. Scorpios rule!

Sorry to hear this. I really liked Dierker. Jimy really divided the Sox clubhouse. The chemistry was horrible to begin with, and his picking favorites didn't help. His line-ups were so bizarre you swore he only played his buddies.

I went to one game in 2000, Pedro pitching, and Jimy SAT every starter. Swear to God. The line-up was all Triple A. Everyone at Fenway was horrified! Sox won 1-0, because of a walk, stolen base, throwing error and wild pitch. They only had 2 hits.

It was awful. :barf:
