Probably the one game Hampy wanted to win this season - oh well, pretty much the way they've played all year. I don't see a big turn around coming this late in the season...

A Leiter (W, 8-10)
M Hampton (L, 12-10)
A Benitez (S, 30)

This was a tough loss for the Rockies, but a great game by Appier. One of the better games I've seen this season.

Jason Jennings (major league debut) for the Rockies vs. Glendon Rusch (6-8, 4.73 earned-run average; 0-2, 7.82 lifetime against Colorado) for the Mets.

Jennings was called up when Brian Bohanon was placed on the disabled list because of continued left elbow problems that required surgery. The Rockies' No. 1 draft pick in 1999 from Baylor University, Jennings opened the season at Class AA Carolina. He went 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA in four starts at Carolina before being promoted to Class AAA Colorado Springs. In 22 starts with the Sky Sox, he went 7-8 with a 4.72 ERA, including a 2-1 record and 1.00 ERA in his final six starts.

Rusch is coming off successive losses in which he allowed 15 runs and 11 runs, eight earned, in seven innings. He has compiled a 4-4 record and 2.91 ERA in 11 starts at Shea Stadium this season. He has lost his past two starts, allowing 12 runs, nine earned, in 10 1/3 innings. Rusch allowed five runs in 5 2/3 innings of a May 10 loss at Coors Field.

I know this is a little late, but...
WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

OK, they're still the Rockies and pitching will always be their downfall, but that was one gutsy outing by Jennings. He only got stronger as the game went on. It was great to see the four or five Mets fans still sitting in the rain give him a standing "O" when he came out to pitch the ninth. I hope he can give Hampton some pointers.

Rockies 10, Mets 0
J Jennings (W, 1-0)
Rusch (L, 6-9)
