Penn State would crush Florida ... they're so overrated.

Oh yeah they would. It could be payback for when the Gators beat em back in the Mid 90's in the Blockbuster Bowl if I remember right...

Wasn't it the late 90's in the Outback Bowl? The year Jurevicious and Enis were suspended and PSU still played Florida tough? Or has PSU played Florida twice in bowl games?

Florida beat them 21-6 in the citrus. Thats the only game.

and why did they change the name of the citrus bowl to the capital one bowl?

I think a lot of those predictions are kinda off. not sure why ole miss would play on a Dec 31st Bowl instead of Auburn or Arkansas.

And Notre Dame isnt even in the Big East. But they do have all those special BCS bowl rules just for them. Id be surprised not to see them in one of the big four BCS bowl games anyways.

Simple, rfc. Changing the name meant more money. :hmm:

Right on, Josh - money makes the bowls go 'round...wow, 28 bowl games...that's 56 teams - everyone plays! I think there was a change in bowl eligiblity this year - something like a 6-6 team is only eligible if filling a conference slot - I'll have to check into that. There may not be 56 eligible teams...

Notre Dame is considered a Big East team, and eligible to fill any of those slots - for non-BCS games.

The chances are very good that a lot of these predicted match-ups won't happen...many league playoffs to come.

This is fairly bizarre. They picked Maryland to play in the #4 ACC bowl? We are currently in second place, a half game behind FSU. If NCSt. beats FSU next week, we control our own destiny to the ACC championship. We have beaten both Clemson and NC St., both of whom have 3 conference losses. Maryland has one. For us to finish behind both Clemson and NC State is statistically impossible... these are some weird predictions.

Sorry fellas, this was updated November 7th so it's probably not accurate with current standings...

I'll try and find something better here in the next couple days...

i doubt theyd drop the orange and fiesta from those bowl names.

Updated November 18.

Here's where I get my info from....

http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2002/Bowls/Bowl_Projections.htm

Yeah, and I believe it is still known as the Capital One Citrus Bowl....

i went to the citrus sports website and apparently they have dropped the citrus. just capital one now... oh well.

I think those projections look better. I think Michigan vs Florida will be the outback regardless of the ohio st-michigan and the fsu-florida outcomes. if ohio st wins they are going to the fiesta and iowa the rose. Capital one gets the next pick but theyve had michigan three of the last four bowl games. so theyd take penn st. but if ohio st loses, they go to capital one and michigan still goes to outback. penn st going to the sun or something.

SEC is getting only one BCS team... winner of SEC championship. probably Georgia. Citrus just had Florida a couple years ago while the Outback has never had them and ive read the outback is real serious about landing florida. plus i think there are more florida boosters in tampa and the ticket sales and hotel draw wasnt as much as they would have hoped at the citrus a few years ago. loser of sec championship will probably go to citrus. unless the loser is arkansas since theyd probably go to cotton. citrus is one of ABCs biggest watched games besides the four BCS games. Dont think Arkansas would be the biggest draw. going to dallas would make for sense for them.

these bowl games are all about which teams will pull the biggest draw and tv ratings. dont always make sense about who deserves to go where.

I always thought it was known as the Citrus Bowl and not the Capital One Citrus Bowl until this year. I've never associated Capital One with the Citrus Bowl until this year.
