the yanks resign tino for 3 years. resign hitchcock for 2 years and have a third year as an option. keep the rivera's and the stanton's and such. paul oneil retires. now the yanks make a trade with toranto or another team for an outfield bat. .

the yanks could put justice in left and spencer in right or trade justice and other players in a package for a guy like stewart and quantrill or jose cruz jr. cruz jr. will give the yanks more power but he cannot hit for average. stewart can hit for average but cant hit as well for power. so the yanks could look else where to find that 3-spot or 4-spot guy and have soriano bat number 2.

tino martinez will dh/1b and will be there to teach nick johnson along with donnie baseball.

hitchcock gives us a good 5 starter and a good reliever in the playoffs. and his arm strength will increase as the years pass.

if the yanks make these move:

the line up: jeter, soriano, justice or new guy from trade, bernie, tino, posada, spencer, nick johnson, 3b replacement (brosius hopefully for one more year)

starting rotation: clemens, pettitte, mussina, el duque, hitchcock

bullpen: stanton, choate, rivera, mendoza, quantrill ( to be included in trade if trade made with toronto), (and any other additions they make)
