View Full Version : Hey Poptop!!!
The NL central forums get kind of lonely... I of course know that being the STL mod. I think we should say hi more and stuff.....
What would you think of maybe an Astro's vs. Cards thread about the 2003 season sometime?
lol I'm actually scheduling this as if it were a press release or something.... welll anyways hi.
BTW got a question... who are the stros targeting as free agents this offseason?.... Gotta be on watch of the biggest threat to STL you know!

Amag --- Not sure what angle you want to take with the 'Stros versus Cards thread, but sounds okey dokey to me.
As for your query, it appears the Astros are still hot after Woody Williams, ironically ... And I've also got it on good authority they will get Shane Reynolds back for a 1-yr deal that's very heavy with incentives (2nd yr kicks in auto with steep increase if Shane hits certain combined targets)
I know what you mean about some of these individual forums getting lonely, but I've got a few ideas to at least beef up the Houston site ... I've offered to buy beer for some of my buds if they will join up and drop in for a comment each week (seriously) ... Plus, and I hate to be a name dropper, but my dad's cousin is director of scouting for the Astros, David Lakey ... So I'm going to bug him for some inside scoop or contacts.

Sweet!!!!
Can he hook us up with good seats when I come over to visit you for a Stros game;)
what I meant by Houston/St. Louis thread was one comparing the teams position by position, then looking at the rosters overall and see who's better.... did that at Sleeperpicks a lot.

Amag --- Sounds ok to me on the Astros-Cards comparisons.
Guru --- Don't really need the family connection to get good seats ... Even though I dropped out of the season ticket group this past year, I've still got an in for some of those seats ... They're out in the Crawford Boxes (aka, left field bleachers) where most people erroneously think all homers in Arthur Andersen Memorial Park wind up.
