CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Indians placed pitcher Charles Nagy on the disabled list Friday and said he would miss the remainder of the season.
Nagy had surgery on his pitching elbow in May 2000, and did not have his first start for the Indians until June of this year. Since then he has posted a 5-6 record, with a 6.40 ERA.
The team said Nagy has re-aggravated his elbow, and he is not expected to return until next spring.
The Indians recalled pitcher Jake Westbrook from Triple-A Buffalo.
Nagy has spent his entire 12-year career with the Indians, and has compiled a lifetime record of 128-99 and a 4.40 ERA.
Earlier this year, Nagy was named one of the Indians top 100 players of all time.
