Okay, I'm not a cat person, but I had a cat dumped on my porch once, so I kept it. I did the same thing, I LOVE the LION look. Made me think it wasn't really a cat.

If it had to be shaved for some surgery, I understand ... But that is just downright cruel and completely asinine to do that to a cat just for grins ... I would love to find the malicious ignoramus who was responsible

No it's not Poptop. I did that to my cat in Arizona. Not as severe, but a lot of pets there are shaved. Vets recommend it because of the heat.

Again, not to the skin, but rather cut very short.

isnt that why cats shed? its a natural process in a cat (or dog for that matter). shaving like THAT isnt.

Depends on the animal. Like Eskimo type dogs, shephards, etc, tend to overheat, my Vet always said to cut hair short on real furry animals. The cat I had was always sick, but after he shaved her down, she was fine.
