Delino DeShields, waived by the Baltimore Orioles, agreed to contract terms with the Chicago Cubs. DeShields will join the Cubs in Detroit today, when Chicago will make a roster move to make room for the infielder-outfielder. "We see this as a move with very little risk and a chance for a great upside," Cubs general manager Andy MacPhail said. "We just hope to get him back to his 2000 level, instead of where he has been in 2001."

I don't know where they will put him. We need a first basemen not a shortstop/second basemen. We have one of the greats in EY.

Agreed, cubsfan. EY was one of my favorite players while he was here in Colorado. Even though he is struggling at the moment, he's ten times the player DeShields is. I guess that Baylor has said he will use DeShields as a utility player off the bench, and possibly in the OF.

That is true. Maybe they will send him to AAA Iowa. I hope he finds a spot better than secondbase

all i know is he has not been playing well this year he has stunk. Hopefully he picks it up a little. he used to be a great base stealer in the day. they actually were starting to take away his playing time in baltimore he was so bad.
