After posting a smart@ss thread about some toys yesterday, the link above takes you to a story about real toys the Lion and Lamb project is warning parents about ... Below is the list, and one of 'em really steams my fat bottom.
The Lion and Lamb project, which wants to stop marketing of violence to children, has a list of 12 toys to avoid.
Violent toys:
Army Forward Command Post - A "bombed out version of Barbie's Dream House."
Star Blaster Set "Makes machine-gun sounds as a loud voice yells 'Fire! Fire!"
Gun Sniper "Violent themes... marketed to pre-schoolers."
NRG Paintball "Encourages eight-year-olds to shoot their friends."
Nerf Blastin' Zurg from Toy Story "Shoots darts from a triple-barreled toy gun."
Galidor 'Ooni.' "Children may use them for fantasy fighting."
Violent video games:
Burnout 2: Point of Impact. "Shows a man's head crashing through a windshield."
Mike Tyson Boxing. "Rated appropriate for schoolchildren."
Duke Nukem Advance. Instructions suggest "Kill everything that moves!"
Timesplitters 2. Review notes "occasional orgies of random violence."
James Bond 007: Nightfire. "Parents should be aware that Nintendo is now... producing ever-edgier titles."
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. "Teens can easily buy and rent mature-rated titles."
