this doesn't really apply to College, since it will almost definitely be LeBron James

Yeah, almost definitely LeBron James.
Some College players who will go high are Jason Gardner, Luke Walton, and Hollis Price (if he leaves.)

I don't know if I would say "better." But he certainly has the most potential, at least in the opinions of a lot of people.
He will be #1 for the same reason that Kwame Brown was... potential.

The Nuggets had better do some more losing so they can draft that guy....
Twenty bucks says that if the Nuggets get the number one pick, LeBron goes to college...:hmm:

Don't players have to declare themselves eligible for the draft BEFORE the lottery?
MarylandMan

Yeah. But if they don't hire an agent, they can pull out of the draft up to a month or so before the draft.
Mike Dunleavy almost went back to Duke when he found out the Warriors wanted to draft him. The pompous little ***** thought he was too good to play there. But I don't expect that to happen with LeBron James... I don't see him going to college after all the hype.

They should bring back the territorial draft for this year only. :D

I forget how long ago, but the draft used to have a territorial rule. Meaning players in a certain area could be first drafted by the team playing in its locale. Under those rules, the Cavs would have the first opportunity to draft Lebron. :D

SO then the Raptors would get no one?

I'm not sure how it worked when a team had no one it wanted in their region. I can't remember what I read on it (and now I can't find where I read it), but I have a feeling the first round was for territorial picks and every team didn't have to make a pick, but if you picked in round one, you couldn't pick in round two maybe. I'll try and find out more info later.

From 1947-1965, in the league's early years, when teams were struggling to include fan bases, the draft included territorial picks. Before the start of the draft, a team could forfeit its first-round pick and instead select a player from its immediate area, presumably with a strong local following. Teams were given a list of local schools they were allowed to choose from. Philly's pick of Chamberlain was a stretch because WIlt was in high school.
Notable Territorial Draft Picks
Tom Heinsohn
Oscar Robertson
Jerry Lucas
Bill Bradley
Wilt Chamberlain

I can't remember any player who's ever been as highly rated, for an upcoming NBA draft, as James has been. How many high school games have you seen on pay per veiw before? He'll deffinatly be #1. Carmelo Anthony of Syracuse should be #2 or 3.
BTW, does Detroit finally have the Grizzlies #1 pick? Last year they said it would either be then, or this year, but i just read on nbadraft.net, that it'll be this years, or next.:umm

who cares who takes James, the real question is who will take the REAL best player in the draft, Kyle Korver!

Hollis Price is a senior i think.
Lebron will probably go number 1. so many high schoolers have made the jump and turned out to be just a solid player. i dont think id draft him.
Best senior college kids are Gardner, Hinrich, Walton, Collison, Marcus, Price, Knight, Dudley, West.... etc...
but im sure the draft will be full of Euro's, underclassmen who arent ready, and high schoolers who cant shoot but are very athletic.

How can you not draft him. Scouts who have seen both him and Kobe and other high schoolers say he is much better than anyone they have seen. His maturity is astounding, no one's had as much media as this kid and he is handling it very well. The kid is #1 hands down.

Actually, one source has Korver being taken ahead of Gardner! :D

Id trade it. I bet you could make a killing in a trade if you had the number 1 pick.

He will shoot up as Creighotn rises to top 15 range in the polls. He will be a first round pick i think.

I'd rather have the kid. He's going to be great. Better than what you could get in a trade, because you aren't going to get a superstar more than likely. Unless a team is desperate to cut costs.

Pick's 3-8 are problably be very below average than usual. I think the draft class gets weaker and weaker every year.

I don't see why the Bulls would draft a 6-10 SF/PF when they have Rose, Curry, and Chandler. That's an overload of small forwards, power forwards, and centers.

Maybe be great. There have been a lot more cant miss high schoolers who have turned into busts than ones who have turned into superstars.
If some team was willing to offer a lot... ie. already proven, good players, id trade him away instead of the hope he turns into a good player. if no one was offering much in return though i guess id draft him. its a pretty weak draft class overall.

Yeah, I know there is a lottery but you have a better chance of being #1 if you are last...or if you're Houston...
