Denver to make all-star pitch
By Marc J. Spears
Denver Post Sports Writer

Tuesday, December 10, 2002 - Representatives from Kroenke Sports Enterprises, which includes the Denver Nuggets, will have their first face-to-face meeting with the NBA next week regarding hopes of landing the 2005 All-Star Game.
Kroenke Sports Enterprises executive vice president David Ehrlich and senior director of marketing and business development Jeff Plush are scheduled to meet with NBA senior vice president of events Ski Austin on Dec. 16 in New York City.

The discussion will include hotel accommodations, transportation, convention space and security.

"We have an excellent situation," Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke said recently. "We have demonstrated with the wonderful people that we have working here that we can handle an all-star game.

"The (2001 NHL) All-Star Game we had in Denver was the best in the history of the league," he said. "I think the NBA watched that, and I think we have a good chance."

Kroenke Sports Enterprises made its official bid in August. No date for an announcement has been set.

NBA commissioner David Stern spoke positively this year about the possibility of the All-Star Game coming to Denver, which last hosted the game in 1984.

Asked when he expected a decision, Kroenke said: "It will take some time, but we'll keep working on it."

Savovic patient
Rookie guard Predrag Savovic is eligible to come off the injured list, but it doesn't seem likely he will get back in uniform soon. Even so, Savovic is taking his situation in stride.

Savovic began the season on the injured list with a sprained right ankle and missed 10 games before being activated Nov. 20.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pounder averaged 5.0 points in five games before going back on the injured list Nov. 29 with a sprained right ankle after guard Chris Whitney was activated.

"I really don't even think about," Savovic said about coming off the injured list. "I'm just getting in some extra work. I've got things to correct from my first five games. It's just an adjustment, and I've got to adjust, too."
