so in a way, Oakland gave up Pena, Franklyn German, and their 2001 first rounder, and in return got Ted Lilly and Durazo...both injury prone but effective players when healthy.

hmm.....it looks like a good trade for the A's, but i guess that can't really be determined until the minor leaguers develop.

REally Dorazo never really is at his best. This guy has much more power than he has shown in the past. The only thing that is keepin him down is his ability to swing and miss:hmm: thats one he's good at

Durazo has shown great signs of possibly being a superstar...He's got the stuff....He just needs to be a bit less injury proned....He really has yet to get a shot fulltime as well never having more than 222 AB's and never playing 100 games in any season for his career...
Yes he does K alot but he also walks alot as his OBP% is .390 for his career, more than 100 points higher than his BA.....So he does get on base and he does show power....

I can easliy seeing him being a .290-.300 hitter, 35-40 HR's and 100-120 RBI type of hitter......

The thing is we may never see that ptential because like you said he's frequently hurt. God help the team that needs him for his defense.

He may avoid injuries in the DH position. Many experts say (including myself), if he can get 500 at bats he will be a top 10 1st Baseman. Initially, Billy Beane has stated Durazo will be the DH. His questionable fielding and injuries are not a factor in the DH roll.
