According to a report in today's Oakland Press, Alan Trammell as Omar Infante penciled in at short. Ramon Santiago, the incumbent SS, will be in a battle with Damion Easley for secondbase.

This is somewhat interesting in light of the fact when the two played together, Infante was at second, Santiago at short. While I think Santiago is a little further ahead, especially offensively, I prefer Infante at short.

The report also states that with the new dimensions at Comerica, Bobby Higginson may get a chance to return to RF. Obviously, that would depend on trading Robert Fick.

Yes, Fick is on the block. However, according to the Ann Arbor News yesterday, there are concerns league-wide about his attitude, so we'll see.

Fick manages to get into some off-field trouble from time to time. He is also doesn't cover much ground in the outfield and everyone runs on the guy. That's why his assist total is so big. It also doesn't help that he's arbitration eligible.

He worked hard at becoming an OF last year, but just doesn't seem to fit into the long term plans in Detroit.

I love Fick on the feild, but we could do without his off the feild issues. Plus we have more than enough corner outfeilders, who make a lot, and Fick has the most trade value.

As for the middle infeild, i think Infante should play second. Just watching them last year, Santiago looked much more comfortable at short, and Infante at second IMO.
