First Bowl of the season is tomorrow. North Texas vs. Cincinnati.

Who do yall think is gonna win?

I don't really know much about North Texas except apparently they have a real good defense. Cincy has a good QB in Gino Gudugli or however you spell his last name. This team is a lot better than it's 7-6 record shows so I'm going to go with them winning this game....

Key Things For This Game:

- North Texas is 3rd in the nation in scoring defense at 14.4 ppg.

-Cincy finished 2nd in Conference USA with 30 ppg on the offensive end.

-Cincy QB Gino Guidugli threw for 3319 yards this year, while North Texas QB Andrew Smith threw for just 1080.

-Cincy RB DeMarco McClesky outrushed his counterpart at North Texas, Kevin Galbreath, 1276 to 1168, repsectively.

-North Texas on average gained just 280 yards of offense per game....playing in the Sun Belt conference....

I say Cincy wins this one 27-13.

I think North Texas will win 20-10 with one DEF TD and another Tournover setting up a FG!

To Dan it matters.

Other than that, it could be a lacrosse match for all I care.

This is the third most important bowl of the year! Only the Fiesta and Citrus are more important! :D

Well, Joe Greene is a North Texas alum, and his nickname is Mean Green. That's the only reason I can come up with.

I'm pretty certain they are named after good ol' Mean Joe Greene of the Pittsburgh Steelers who went to North Texas....they were the Eagles in the past...

That kinda makes sense. I'm sure the ladies swim team, if their is one, loves being named after Greene.

Some of the other teams may still be named the Eagles...time for me to do some research...:D

Mean Green - In 1966, the NTSU defense, which happened to include Joe Greene, was nationally respected. The wife of the sports information director yelled the nickname at a game and it caught on ever since. The name was heavily emphasized in the '70s. Joe Greene was never given the nickname "Mean Joe Green" till after his career at North Texas.

The ladies teams are still known as the Lady Eagles...
