Liter22, even though it's been 6 years since he last played 3B, Kent actually came up primarily as a third-sacker when he was first dubbed a future "Superman" with the Blue Jays ... I don't think he would have much of a problem adjusting.
However, hold on with that idea because even though the initial reports from ESPN and Useless Today suggested he would play 3B, everything said last night on the radio leans a different direction with Biggio moving to the OF and Kent remaining at 2B ... I'm way more concerned about this idea than Kent playing 3B for Houston.
Biggio is a solid athlete, and when you're an All-Star at catcher and 2B, I think that's a good sign of your versatility (By the way, did you know Biggio was the last catcher to be charged with catcher's interference in an All-Star Game? ... I'm just a cesspool of information sometimes, huh?)
But getting back to our subject at hand, I'm a bit worried about Biggio's arm strength from the OF ... With his speed, you'd think the best place to try him in Houston would be CF, but he certainly doesn't have the arm to play there, so it's looking like he's headed to LF ... So many questions right now, and I guess we'll just have to wait for late February to see how some of them are answered.
Bottom line, Houston improved signing Kent as long as they can work out one position change or another ... And, also bottom line, look for Houston to make another deal now, with Daryle Ward one of their most tradeable commodities ... The ace in the hole, so to speak, for all of this is a kid named Jason Lane who has proven himself the last 3 seasons at the AA and AAA level ... He's just not your prototypical CF, so like I said we'll just have to let time take care of a few things.
