The Tigers made Robert Fick a free agent by not offering him salary arbitration. I am stunned. I really thought they would go to arbitration, then trade him. Apparently the market is in such a state a flux that the Tigers feared not being able to move him at all.

I have no idea what direction Dombrowski plans to look, but I might guess that we will see Higginson RF and Dmitri "I Want To Play Firstbase" Young in LF.

Amongst the amazing roster moves around the league over the last 24 hours, I see that the Jays didn't offer Cruz, Jr. a contract either. #1, or anyone else, think he might be a good choice for Tigers' CF?

Suddenly, I get the feeling some of these FA's are going to be working for much less money and maybe a guy like Cruz is affordable. Maybe.

Can the Tigers keep their all star threw the next year for a change? I don't know why they didn't trade this guy earlier, when other teams were trying to get him. I know LA offered Adrian Beltre for him, which would of been a really nice addition. I'd love to see Cruz come play center, but i don't see the Tigers going after anyone unless they sign a minor league contract. But we'll see.

I have serious doubts that LA offered anyone close to the likes of Beltre for Fick. If a potential number one starter like Millwood can only command a journeyman catcher, what is a mediocre OF going to bring? Exactly what they got: nothing.

As the number of the salary dumps indicate (46 players got non-tendered if I recall correctly), not many teams were willing to take on arbitration eligible players.

This has got to be one of the strangest off-seasons I have ever seen.
