SAN DIEGO (AP) - Wally Joyner became the San Diego Padres' minor league hitting coordinator Friday.

Joyner hit .289 with 204 home runs and 1,106 RBIs in a 16-year major league career with California, Kansas City, San Diego and Atlanta.

Joyner replaces Dave Magadan, who was promoted to Padres batting coach in November after one season as minor league hitting coordinator. Joyner served as special assistant to general manager Kevin Towers in 2002.
