.c The Associated Press

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Infielder Benji Gil agreed to a one-year contract with the Anaheim Angels on Thursday.

Gil, a right-handed hitter who often platooned with Adam Kennedy at second base, batted .285 with three homers and 20 RBIs in 61 games during the regular season.

He batted just 12 times during the postseason, but had eight hits including a double and drove in one run. He was 4-for-5 as the Angels beat the San Francisco Giants in the World Series.

Gil, a 30-year-old native of Tijuana, Mexico, has batted .292 over the past two seasons with Anaheim after hitting .222 in his previous five major league seasons.

Yeah, I read that last night. It was a good signing for the Angels. Gil is a good utility fielder who can play all over. Also, his batting average and overall hitting has improved since he became a part-time player. When he played everyday his offense was terrible. Thanks for giving the info though, much appreciated here in the desert that is the Angels forum!:clap2:
