So I will keep a running tab of the top minor league systems based on the rankings given by the fellows at minor league baseball's official site. The top prospects gets his team 10 points while the tenth prospect will garner 1 point for his team. The team also receives 5 points per player as a reward for having multiple players in the rankings. They will be updated as the site puts up more rankings.
Positions represented:
Lefthanded pitchers
Righthanded pitchers
Catchers
First Basemen
Second Basemen
Shortstops
Third Basemen
Outfielders
Keep in mind that they ONLY did players with LESS than 200 major league plate appearaces and 60 innings were considered in the rankings.
Check my other posts for the rankings on each position.

No surprise the Indians are that high as they ROBBED teams of talent in the trades they made in the last year. If those youngsters develop is another story. But the Tribe easily had the most number of players in the rankings with 6. Travis Hafner and Victor Matinez were first in first base and catcher, Brandon Phillips was second at short, Billy Traber and Cliff Lee were 3 and 4 at LHP and Josh Bard was the lowest at 9 in catchers. It should be a fun few years seeing these guys develop.

Rankings have been updated with the third base prospects in account. Rangers made a huge jump with their third base propects, Blalock and Teixiera, ranked in the top 2 at third.

Keep in mind that not all the positions are finished yet. They could change drastically. Texas rose like 20 spots when I included the third base prospects. So if the Cubs have deep outfielders, they'll rise. Also this only takes into account the top 10 prospects in each position, so they could have some good guys who aren't neccisarilly [sic] the best of the best.

So the Top Minor League Systems are complete. The Indians have the top system with the best prospects and the deepest roster. The Expos couldn't even make the list with one player. Any thoughts, claims of bias on my behalf, or general comments?

awefull, they do have a very talented system. But keep in mind, Prior, Hill, Choi, Patterson, Cruz, and Zambrano are ll in the majors now. Those 6 were our best prospects in the higher levels. We do have very talented players in short season and A-Ball, such as Sisco, Ryu, Guzman, Pignatiello, and Sanchez. And you can bet that as soon as those guys start movin up ad gettin mor recognition, the Cubs will come back toward the top.
