Ruggles, Astros part ways: The Astros have officially severed ties with Ruggles, the trendy eatery that operated restaurants in both the centerfield area of Minute Maid Park and Union Station during the first three years of the downtown ballpark's existence. Club President Pam Gardner said the Astros are "going to go back to the core business of baseball" which includes changing the concept of restaurants that operate inside the stadium. The club has not announced a new tenant but expects to finalize a deal during the current offseason.
Gardner did not reveal the details of the Astros-Ruggles split, saying only that the club would like to "minimize the number of outside entities to deal with."
The split prompted "Astroline", the Astros' weekly Hot Stove radio show, to relocate to Floridita Seafood Grill at Kirby and Richmond. The show, hosted by play-by-play announcer Milo Hamilton, runs from 7-8 p.m. CT on 740 AM KTRH. Lance Berkman will be the guest on Thursday, Jan. 9.
