So I got bored today, and I thought one of my favorite thoughts, "What if?" Today's topic: What if the Cavs hadn't made some trades in the past few years? How good would they be? I'll let the players speak for themselves.

Obviously I wouldn't have traded Andre Miller, my favorite player, for Darius Miles. Miles has been a HUGE bust.

Next, a trade awile back netted the Cavs Tyrone Hill and Jumaine Jones. If that hadn't happened, we would still have Matt Harpring, Cedric Henderson, and Robert Traylor. Although Ced and Tractor would be released for my scenario.

The Cavs also traded Wes Person to the Grizz for Nick Anderson, who was released, and draft rights to Matt Barnes, also released. I know Wes wanted out for rebuilding, but no rebuilding in this scenario means Wes is still here.

Last year the Cavs made another dumb move. They traded draft rights of Brendan Haywood to the Magic for Michael Doleac. Yeah, let's take that back as well.

Finally, taking all the other moves into account, the Cavs wouldn't have selected Wagner in the previous draft as they had talented guys in front of him. Instead, I say they would have picked Caron Butler.

That gives a team that looks like this:
PG- Andre Miller Milt Palacio Bimbo Coles
SG- Ricky Davis Wes Person
SF- Matt Harpring Caron Butler
PF- Chris Mihm Carlos Boozer
C - Zydrunas Ilgauskas Brendan Haywood DeSagana Diop

I wouldn't trade Murray, because we now have Toronto's first round pick and Toronto is a lottery team this year.

I think this team is good enough for a 4-5 seed in the weak East. What does everyone else think?

I love hindsight vision.

looking at the team the Cavs could have had, i'd say they would be a playoff contender (i don't know about a 4-5 seed, but they do have a playoff caliber team). Harpring though, has really developed in the Jazz system. Who knows if he would have turned in to the scorer he is right now if he was still on the Cavs? Also, if the Cavs had that team, would Ricky Davis get the minutes and shot attempts that he's getting? (right now Davis is in the top 10 in the league in FG attempted). And if he didn't get the minutes and shot attempts that he's getting now, would he still have improved as much as he has improved?

"what if"'s are depressing! they only make you sad

I always enjoy what ifs. 20-20 Hindsight vision as they say. I still think Ricky would get the production he gets now and I think Harpring was/is too taleneted to not produce if he hadn't have gone to Utah.

Look at this team

Vince Carter
Tracy mcgrady
Damon Stoudemire
Antonio Davis
Alvin Williams
I'm forgetting some people I know, but that is a championship team right there.
