DETROIT -- Infielders Warren Morris and Danny Klassen were among 18 players invited Tuesday to spring training by the Detroit Tigers as non-roster players.

Also invited were right-handed pitchers Carlos Alvarado, Jeremy Bonderman, Fernando De La Cruz, Preston Larrison, Chris Mears; left-handers Rob Henkel, Jason Jimenez and Rafael Roque; catchers Robinson Cancel, Russ Cleveland, Bill Haselman, Andy Kropf, Maxim St. Pierre, Matt Walbeck and Luis Taveras; and outfielder Ernie Young.

Detroit pitchers and catchers report to Lakeland, Fla., on Feb. 12, and the rest of the team reports Feb. 17.

Brian Moehler was also offered a minor league contract to come back to Detroit after being traded to Cincinnatti last year. But he's still looking at other teams to see if he can get a major league contract.

If Moehler's healthy, he's the type of guy the Tigers are looking for. Someone capable of around 200 IP, that doesn't cost very much.

I like Moehler, he was active in the community, and I hope he can become a productive pitcher again. Preferably here.

Moehler signed with Houston today. On to Plan B. Or C, I'm not quite sure.
