Astros Avoid Arbitration With Blum
HOUSTON -- Third baseman Geoff Blum agreed to a one-year contract with the Houston Astros and avoided salary arbitration.
Blum came to Houston last spring from Montreal in exchange for Chris Truby. After prospect Morgan Ensberg slumped badly, Blum began starting and hit .283 with 10 homers and 52 RBI in 130 games.
Blum also saw time at the other three infield spots and played 10 games in the outfield last season.
Only shortstop Julio Lugo remains arbitration-eligible.
