How can you hate that dancing gerbil? ... Oh, I see, you meant BH Kim ... I haven't seen a full-time sidewinder ever be effective in the starting role ... They come in for an inning after your normal over-the-top pitcher and really throw the hitters off ... Kim might be able to go against the norm; he does have some nasty stuff.
But what's the thinking for his replacement as closer, Mantei or Prinz? ... There are two sharp edges to this dagger, turning Kim into an effective starter and finding a reliable (i.e., healthy) replacement in the 9th inning ... Two things have to go right with this move for it to work.

If it aint broke dont fix it.....
Thats my motto.....He is a great releiver, why moce him to a closer....He hasnt shown me that he can take the wear and tear of a starter and log some innings...
This is puzzling to me:umm

It was puzzling to me as well when the D-Backs considered this a season or two ago ... Can't remember if it was 2000 or 2001, but Kim went on the Dl for a while and apparently started a game or two during bush league rehab ... Arizona reported they were going to possibly shift him to that role but it didn't take.
I'm wondering if this isn't some move made just to appease Kim's desire to be a starter (that's what he was in Korea and he was successful at it) ... Maybe AZ just is giving the idea some lip service.

I think just leave him where he's done his best work. The D'backs do have a preety good young starter in the minors who should be ready for this season but then you never know
